Submit Promotion Ideas

If you have ideas that you would like to submit and have them sent out on Mandeville exPress, email them to YATB(at)

  • There is no wrong way to participate; do as much or as little as you are moved to.
  • There is no such thing as a bad idea. All appropriate ideas (i.e., legal and in alignment with the integrity of the teachings) will be sent out to the group. (Let us know when you send in an idea if it’s okay to mention your name with it.)

Those of us in the community who catch the vision of an idea will be putting it into action. In most cases that won’t be the church staff doing them — we will be the messengers. We are very excited by all of this. So, let us know if you want to receive these emails by subscribing to the Mandeville exPress today!

This is the very first Mandeville exPress post sharing the ideas that the members of this community, have sent in.

So, here goes.

  • Tom Boyer in Santa Barbara suggests a “Pay It Forward” approach for getting the Blessings Book out into the world. His idea:

Buy a couple copies of the book, put in a special gift card, and give the books to two friends.

On the card he suggests a message card saying something like:
“This book was purchased and given to you by someone who sees you as a blessing in their life. If you value what you received, please purchase a copy of this book and give it to another that is a blessing in your life.”

RESULTS: One person Tom gave the book to responded with an obligatory thank you. The second person wrote to Tom that she would be reading the book for the rest of her life and that she had already purchased several copies for friends.

VARIATION: Buy some books and leave them around at places like bus benches. Include a card saying something like: “This is a book for you. If you enjoy it, please keep it. And, if you are so moved, please purchase another copy and leave it out with a message similar to this one, for another person to find and enjoy.”

  • Spread the word about You Are the Blessings in chat rooms and blogs. Chat up the book
  • Send the Light to You Are the Blessings becoming a “best seller.”

More New Ideas for Promoting YOU ARE THE BLESSINGS

Do a Mass E-Mailing about the Blessings Book to your friends and network – and put a picture of the book and your favorite quote from the book with a link to—

Another thing many people are doing is creating their email signature with an image of the book cover, their favorite quote from the book — which they change from time to time — and the message “Buy You Are the Blessings at”

Interesting tidbit:
If you buy You Are the Blessings at with a current best-seller — like Eckhart Tolle’s new book — AND enough people buy the same two books together, then the computer system starts to list You Are the Blessings as an “also bought” book when that bestseller is clicked on. In other words, if enough people do this, then when new people purchase the Tolle book, the Amazon computer automatically displays a message saying something like: People who liked this book also purchased You Are the Blessings.

Of course, there are no guarantees that enough people will purchase both books together, however this is information for you to know about.

If you have a website, add a link to or website. We will be continuing to update these websites with events and special promotions/offers.

Seed for the success of You Are the Blessings.

Cool New Ideas for Promoting YOU ARE THE BLESSINGS

Here are a couple ideas for taking advantage of some opportunities on, plus a couple extra tidbits for your consideration. Also, the three internet Webcasts with John Morton are based on the You Are the Blessings book. Join us online and view new format hosted by Leigh Taylor Young.

• Write a review on Amazon & give the book a good rating.

It’s easy to do — just go to and enter You Are the Blessings in the search box. When it comes up, click on the cover, then scroll down the resulting page to Customer Reviews. You will see a place to click to write your own review.

If you do this, write from your heart. Be honest about your thoughts and feelings about the book. In short, be genuine. It will be a fine review if you do that.

• Another thing you can do with Amazon is to write reviews on other books you’ve enjoyed — like those of Eckhart Tolle — and mention You Are the Blessings in it as one of your favorite books.

Angel Gibson found this interesting information and passes it along in case any of us are interested in getting involved:

Within the last two years, several social networking sites designed specifically for bibliophiles have appeared on the web-dar, with the major players being Goodreads and Shelfari. Like Facebook and MySpace, users sign up for an account, post a profile, and add friends, but in this case, the goal is to create personalized online bookshelves and find reading recommendations based on friends’ shelves and reviews.

Time magazine ranked Goodreads #5 on their 2007 Top 10 websites list, and for good reason–the site appeals not only to the technologically inclined, but also type-A personalities who like to maintain lists, voracious readers who like to browse their friends’ virtual shelves for recommendations, and book clubs looking for an easy way to communicate with members.

Both sites provide easy–and free–ways for your authors and for readers to connect with readers and the literary community. Authors can quickly post a bio, create a list of their published works, spread the word about signings, and share excerpts, among other things.

Used correctly, these opportunities can create lasting relationships between readers and authors and increased exposure, hopefully resulting in future sales. However, authors and “friends” must be reminded to exercise caution and not treat this as an open invitation to send out mass e-mails or randomly add “friends” they don’t know. No one likes to receive unsolicited mail–especially in an online book haven!–and doing so may result in ill-will.
